HAUNTED NORTH CAROLINA, INC., is a 501(c)(3) North Carolina non-profit corporation dedicated to research and education about apparitional and haunting phenomena. Our headquarters are in Durham, NC.
We are experts in the 'field investigation of spontaneous psychic cases of the haunting type', unexplained sounds, movement of objects, electrical and electronic influences, as well as witnesses' personal experiences of cold spots, apparitions, sounds, odors, and emotional impressions.
Unlike most 'ghost hunting' teams, this is not our ‘hobby’. As professionals, we are committed to the highest standards of psychical research and scientific rigor as prescribed by the Society for Psychical Research, founded in 1882, the central body of expertise worldwide on paranormal topics. Our goal is to determine causes behind the reported experiences. Before ascribing activity as 'paranormal', we first eliminate all reasonable normal explanations.
We do not rely on psychics, occult practices or superstitious beliefs. Our practices are consistent with scientific methodologies involving environmentally-sensitive equipment to detect fluctuations in the electro-magnetic field (EMF), temperature and other environmental variables regarded as pertinent to hauntings. Audio and video records monitor activity, maintain security on the premises, document readings on environmental equipment, and may capture anomalous voices (EVP). In 2018, we pioneered the use of random event generators (REGs) in ghost investigation. Developed by Princeton University rocket scientist and Dean of Engineering Robert Jahn, these state-of-the-art devices produced experimental evidence of mental interaction with electronics (versus chance) at 15,000 to 1. We are studying whether REG's sensitivity to mental influence can detect discarnate consciousness in hauntings.
The investigation of spontaneous cases (outside laboratory controls) is challenging. We are grateful to be of service as we seek further evidence of the survival of consciousness. we look foward to hearing from you!
