HAUNTED NORTH CAROLINA, INC., is a 501(c)(3) North Carolina non-profit corporation dedicated to research and education about apparitional and haunting phenomena. Our headquarters are in Durham, NC.
Investigation of spontaneous haunting cases (outside laboratories, with fewer controls) is deeply challenging. Unlike the majority of amateur Ghost Hunting teams, we are experts in the 'field investigation of spontaneous psychic cases of the haunting type', unexplained sounds, movement of objects, electrical and electronic influences, as well as witnesses' personal experiences of cold spots, apparitions, sounds, odors, and emotional impressions.
We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of psychical research and scientific rigor according to Society for Psychical Research guidelines for field investigation of 'paranormal' phenomena. Determining the causes of hauntings always begins by eliminating 'normal' explanations, after which activities may be classified as 'paranormal.'
We do not rely on psychics, occult practices, superstitious beliefs, or the vast array of scientifically dubious ghost-hunting devices. Our practices are consistent with parapsychologically approved methodologies, including environmentally sensitive equipment to detect anomalous fluctuations in the electro-magnetic field (EMF), temperature, and other variables applicable to ongoing haunts. Audio and video records monitor activity, maintain security on the premises, document readings of environmental equipment, and record anomalous voices (EVP) inaudible at the time. In 2018, we introduced a sophisticated random event generator (REGs) into ghost investigation. Developed by PEAR Labs at Princeton University rocket scientist (and Dean of Engineering) Robert Jahn, this state-of-the-art device demonstrated beyond reasonable doubt that the Mind does influence electronic devices, at a probability of 15,000 to 1 against chance. We propose to determine whether 'discarnates' (conscious nonphysical humans, aka 'ghosts') can also influence REGs, since they certainly influence voice recorders.
Since 1993, our services have been and continue to be free of charge. (We gladly accept and are very grateful for donations.) We sincerely look forward to your questions and requests for assistance with ongoing haunting or other strange phenomena.

Steve Barrell, MA CHtSteve Barrell is certified in Advanced Parapsychological Field Investigation (Ghost Hunting) and Transpersonal Hypnosis, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in philosophy of religion & science, (Whiteheadian process philosophy) at The Claremont School of Theology. He has presented on paranormal topics at international conferences and for such organizations as The Rhine Research Center, Spiritual Frontiers Fellowship, The Academy for Spiritual & Consciousness Studies, The International Association for the Study of Dreams, and The French Institute of Mind-Body Practices (IFPPC) in Paris, and has taught courses on evidence of nonphysical consciousness at Duke University. Experiences before the age of two became the gateway for his lifelong curiosity about things classified as paranormal.
